Pale Duck Egg Blue Paint

Can anyone please recommend a pale duck egg blue paint, I have tried a classic duck egg paint from Crown, but it's a bit too dark. I did think of adding white paint to it to see if I could make it a bit paler, do you think this would work?
Any help suggestions gratefully received, as I'm getting sick of paint charts

Laura Ashley? Think they do a colour which is actually called Pale Duck Egg.

Think adding white paint could make it too whitey! You could try mixing a small amount and see what you think.

Little greene pale pearl. Gorgeous.

Or even pearl mid if pearl light is too light. I have both and everyone comments on how lovely they look.

I've got Laura Ashley pale duck egg in my kitchen, I tried loads and none were quite right until we found this one. I would recommend :)

ooh I'm going to be painting my downstairs in a pale duck egg shade or maybe something like laura ashley cobalt

Scarlet and Grand you were right ! the Laura Ashley paint was just perfect - exactly what I wanted I popped into Homebase got the tester (to add to the other 47 I've got in various shades !!) and ta da just right.

Sh Little Greene looked lovely, but as I could get the Laura Ashley tester right away I tried that one.
ggirl The cobalt looks really nice, but I've got to say the duck egg and pale duck egg are lovely too, could you pop to Homebase and get some testers? I don't think it would be too much for downstairs - warm, but bright and fresh if you know what I mean !!

got two laura ashley tester pots today , the pale duck egg and pale cobalt ..now where to paint the stripes..

ggirl I do mine in 2 different places - by the window where it's light and then in the darkest area of the room - it's amazing how different they can look.
Laura Ashley has a sale on paint (well, lots of things, actually!) and it was cheaper to buy it online and have it delivered (£33ish for 5L) compared to buying it at Homebase (£41ish).

We've got duck egg white by Laura Ashley - it's a very pale blue, if you're wanting something especially light!

I've taken down a mirror and have just spent a small fortune on testers from dulux and it's a tight battle between dulux crystal surpise 5 or 6 and grecian spa 6 .

I'm painting onto a cream base which the man in homebase said will make all the colours darker apparently.

Try designerpaint.co.uk for some different brands. Zoffany does a lovely greenish duck egg.

I have duck egg blue either side of my fireplace (photo on profile still I think) I chose curtains then has the duck egg in them scanned and had the paint made up at a dulux paint place (in b&q)

Do you have something like that you could do?

Bit late to this topic but sooo tired of trying various blues and really like duck egg, so thinking of revamping the kitchen. two questions ladies, how pale is the Laura Ashley pale duck egg? And has anyone tried creams/beiges with this? Think i need to get away from the creams but dont want to go too dark and make the space seem smaller.

Laura Ashley Pale Duck Egg is very pale indeed. We've just used it for loft rooms where the walls are v low and the ceiling slopes so we've used it as wall/ceiling paint and it is more of an off-white than a blue except when you look at something that is truely white next to it (e.g. skirting). We have the other Laura Ashley Duck Egg on the full height walls which is darker but still paler than the other Duck Egg testers from other paint manufacters which we tried.

Thanks for that, i have also looked at Dulux Crystal suprise no 6 which i noticed ggirl had mentioned in an earlier post and also wondered about that. It's a nightmare ending up with loads of testers though. But if the Pale Duck Egg is more like one of those 'shades of' colours which as you say is more of an off white then that would be too light, dont want the wall too dark but definately needs a bit of interest and sounds like the pale duck egg would be just too light. Thanks for the info about the Laura Ashley Duck Egg being paler than other manufacturers.

I have just painted our bedroom LA Pale Duck Egg. In our largish north facing room it is definitely a noticeable colour and not 'a shade of' type at all. I mean, really nowhere near it! Duck Egg White was pretty much white from our testers but Pale Duck Egg is definitely either very green during the day and very blue in the evening.

Definitely try a tester I'd say...

Try Pale Powder Farrow and Ball.

I tried millions of duck egg-ey colours and found the laura ashley one best as it wasnt dark at all. Light, bright and sunny!

Went into Laura Ashley and looked at the chart (tho i realise theses don't always give a true representation)! But it looked more green'y than blue......
any info would be gratefully accepted!!

Hi baileysmam, I've just painted our kitchen in Laura Ashley Duck Egg. It definitely looks blue on our walls rather than green, but is a nice, soft blue and doesn't feel cold. Having tried loads of pale blue colours, I'd definitely recommend it.

I tried farrow and ball skylight - too grey, pale powder - too pale, borrowed light - too pale and quite cold, homebase duck egg - too dark, crown period duck egg - too dark, crown period 'flagon' - nice, but green rather than blue, laura ashley eau de nil - too green, crown 'bubble bath' - too bright, like a kids bedroom colour... the list goes on! Also tried laura ashley pale duck egg, but thought it was too washed out looking. Hope this helps!

zippy30, you are a star!! Tho that post has made me laugh outloud! Sounds like your range of testers is like all the one's i have collected whenever i've decided to redecorate, nightmare. I appreciate all that info because i feel sure you have saved me buying at least a few of those, was definately going to try the pale duck egg. Thanks, it does help!!
