Quick question - does grey paint look ok with wood floors?

I'm going to paint our hall walls and also up the stairs and the whole of the landing - I am considering grey because the stair and landing carpet is blue.

However, in the hall downstairs we have wood floor - would grey be ok here? I have no choice but to paint all the areas the same colour as there is no natural break IYSWIM.

Yes! Why wouldn't it? We have grey walls (a slightly bluey grey) and they go well with our oak floors downstairs and pine upstairs.

I just thought that as the oak is very warm, it might not look right with grey, particularly as I don't like the idea of a warm grey if that makes sense.

I would recommend a slightly bluey grey rather than a very grey grey iykwim (ie not a concrete grey!) - it will bring out the brown tones in the wood more and be less cold (even though it is bluey). Also will tie in with your blue carpet. We have little Greene French Grey mid and love it.

I used Little Greene "Hammock" for the sitting room and it is absolutely lovely! I would like to use them again if possible - the paint was lovely to work with. Is their French Grey a bluey grey, minipie?

I think it depends on the shades of the wood and the paint - we have grey paint (dulux potter's wheel I think it is) and quite dark Amtico (antique oak) which look gorgeous together

It is in my house Nigella! we have used the light version in our bedroom and the mid version in living room, so I am a big fan

A greeny grey would work nicely with oak too, again would bring out the warm/browny tones in the wood.

We have a yellowy grey (the more taupe side of grey) in one room with cork floors and I think they look great together. It was meant to be taupe and they got the pigments mixed up and we didn't realise until it was on the walls.
