Top tips for attic conversion please

hi all,

our attic conversion is about to start in a week or so and would like some top tips from all of you who have had it done. I feel a bit clueless and i am sure the company we are going with are good but there must be things that i have not thought of like extras etc.

What are your top tips for having builders in the house for 8 weeks?
What are your cleaning tips or do you just live with the dust until it's finished?
what extras did you pay for that you have not thought of/budgeted for?

I am stuck in doors awaiting my builder to make the first delivery of building materials ready to start my conversion. If i am lucky the scaffolding will go up today but if not they say it will be definitely tomorrow.
Skip still to arrive and a temporary partisan to be put up to keep out the dust but all being well we will be all systems go by the end of the week.

I'll hold your hand through the build! We slept up in our new room from last weekend.
Bliss. builders came back yest to make list of snagging jobs. They are changing the door to the ensuite because it isn't a good fit. Hanging the blackout blinds in the velux (fakro is better apparently!), putting draft bobbins onto the loft eave doors, changing a drain pipe to extend it into a soak away as water from the new loft has been simply sitting on the flat roof below it!

All very amicable and polite.

Ours took 14 weeks from scaffold up to builders out. Ours included full painting. But another two weeks before we could move in as I had to then confirm carpets and furniture delivery.

I am in heaven. Getting used to new noisies and that the kids can find us and we can hear them.
