Hi I am in need of a new cooker, we have the space for a range. I currently have a smeg duel fuel which has never worked properly. Looking at the leisure/belling range. Would anybody avoid gas hob and oven if so why or why not? Have always had duel fuel so not sure if cooking by gas in the oven is better or worse I'm so confused!! Help me choose please :)

We recently changed from a gas ramge to a dual fuel one. Electric ovens are so much better. The gas oven temperature was erratic where the electric oven is sopt on and with a multi-function oven you have all sorts of cooking options.

We bought a Rangemaster which was expensive but is very good.

I have a belling gas range. It's very attractive unfortunately it's an abysmal oven. The temperature fluctuates and cooking stuff often involves a certain amount of guess work especially in the large oven. The smaller one is slightly more reliable. I also nearly lost it the Christmas some fat splashed from the turkey and put out the burner (thank god for the Internet ... You can dry it out with a hairdryer )
Ours has an awful electric grill to that's as good quality as the rest of the range Hmm
I would have replaced it (it came new with the house) but the numpty developer cut the floor tiles round the cooker so I'd have to replace the floor with the cooker and the hassle and cost aren't yet worth it. One more Christmas disaster and I may reconsider.

wonkeylegs that sounds crap! Which sort was it? They aren't cheap so I would have thought they would be good, mind you the smeg is a sack of shite!! Looks like a duel fuel is the most popular vote Grin

It's this one - www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/gas-free-standing-ovens/belling-platinum-db2.asp
I don't think they sell this model anymore but the build quality is shocking and I believe this was a replacement for the original one put in by the developer because the door fell off so I wouldn't touch another Belling after this one.
