Hi. I need a regular sized oven for my new kitchen. Which one do you recommend?

I like the round of self cleaning ovens, is that a worth while function or just a gimmick? Any other function i need to know about?

I can only say not to get a Bosch one. I had one in my last kitchen and wasn't impressed. I do a lot of baking and despite it being a fan oven, the heat wasn't distributed evenly at all and my cakes were always over done at the back. Also the timer was v annoying!

The Neff oven I had before that was great (but pricey). Never had a self-cleaning one though

I have the same problem as thejoyofboys with our stoves one. My MIL has a Neff and it is fab - not self cleaning though.

Neff - see if you can get 'graded stock' from Southern Domestics in Woolston
ours has a dent in the side and was 150 off - its a fitted oven ....

My mum had a catalytic oven many years ago. It cleaned itself as it went along with normal use.

Not knowing this i bought a self cleaning oven which is pyrolitic. You have to put it on a special 90 minute cycle where it superheats the dirt to ash which is wiped off. Goodness knows how much this cycle costs. I try to run it after a roast so i dont have to heat it from cold and i rarely let it run past 60 mins. I forget to remove the chrome fittings and rails beforehand so they dont look great now - dull and discoloured. It also doesnt seem to work on the door. It is a hotpoint. I hate it. It never gets to temperature and we have to cook everything for 25% longer than suggested.

Next time i will be looking for catalytic..... Or failing that some other brand of pyrolytic.

when you say "oven" you do mean oven, not cooker?

Single or double?

Have you a budget on mind?

I have Neff induction hob (dent in the back), Neff extractor hood (dent in top) and neff double oven (as above)
along with siemens dishwasher (scratch on top) and had siemens fridge freezer (scratch on hidden side)
discounts added up to free dishwasher

Hi, thanks for your answers so far. It is a single, built-in oven.
