Please recommend and alternative search websites to Rightmove

We have lots of Rightmove alerts and every now and again I check Zoopla, Primelocation and Globrix but generally, apart from on the very odd occasion, nearly all of the websites have exactly the same properties.

I find www.home.co.uk sometimes turns up different properties and has a good search function.

Do you have any other sites, maybe even for private sales - anything!!! - that gives an alternative source of properties but which is not rubbish like gumtree, or mypropertyforsale or housesimple...

Findaproperty and nestoria maybe? Most of the private sale websites are now linked to rightmove anyway I believe. If there are small independent agents in the area you are looking, it is worth checking their websites directly as not all of them sign up to rightmove etc.

What area are you looking in

fourwalls · 26/09/2012 06:54

Thanks Mini - haven't tried Nestoria - will give it a go. I think findaproperty is linked into www.home.co.uk too but will have a check.

Greg, we're looking in south/south east London mainly focussing in Norwood, Anerley Sydenham and Crystal Palace - 2 beds up to £170 ish

Try Zoopla!

maxmillie · 26/09/2012 09:06

auctions?

pinksky · 26/09/2012 10:09

Is there somewhere you particularly want to live? Other than websites, I'd recommend making yourself known with local agents if you can, and you could even do some mailshots if there are specific streets you like?

Tepilo is definitely worth monitoring - it's Sarah Beeney's website for owners wanting to sell without an estate agent.

www.tepilo.com/

Globrix.com

Rightmove has the biggest reach but I'm very taken with Zoopla's new search, will allows key words such as 'sea view'. Much easier for property porning!

Where I live quite a few houses are sold without going to the open market. It's worth siging up with as many agents as you can.

I had to squint & re-read the OP's first few messages over & over...2 beds up to £170k in S/SE London! Confused

Then I realised that this post is from 2012.

But now even more Shockthinking about how crazy the price rises have been!
