Painting kitchen cupboard doors

We have just moved into a new property and whilst the kitchen will do for a few more years we are thinking of painting the kitchen cupboard doors. Have looked at doing this ourselves but looks a bit of a faff to be honest. I have seen a couple of companies on the internet who take the doors away spray paint and ovenbake them and refit. Has anyone had experience of this and what did you think of the finish?

just as cheap to replace the doors, you can buy them seperate from a kitchen.

That's a good point, will have to factor that into our considerations.

Yes, most cupboards are standard sizes. Big DIY stores sell basic kitchen ranges with doors from about £6 each, iirc. Check out the B&Q website, Ikea etc, make sure the measurements tally up, and price it that way.

also check your hinges and hinge mounting locations if you decide to go for new doors, in fact take a door with you to the store to compare.

Thanks, will go off and do some measuring and pricing. The spray paint option would have been about £1500, I think replacement doors will be a lot less!

We had ours spray painted and it looks great - wanted painted wood ans that's the most expensive doors to buy, so worked out much cheaper this way and finish was fab. Think company was called recreate kitchens, based manchester way but travels all over x
