Mouldy undermounted sink seal?

I've about to choose a new kitchen sink and really like the look of the undermounted ones... but am worried about the seal between the sink and the worktop. Do they go mouldy and nasty quickly? Anyone had an undermounted sink for a while and got experience of whether this is a problem or not.

It depends. If the worktop is cut so it's edge is very close to the edge of the sink rather than a small overhang of worktop over the sink, then yes you will get mould as the edge of sink and silicon seal will be permanently wet and because of the join and the silicon there will be something for the mould to grow on iykwim.

If you have the worktop cut so that there is a worktop overhang (5mm will do) then you won't because the join and silicon won't be continuously wet and the overhang and edge of worktop will allow it to drip off.
Unless you have wood worktop of course.
