Waterproof blind for bathroom?

Tanyaaah · 13/09/2012 17:35

I'm doing up the bathroom and finally having a full height shower, but it will shower onto the window, no way around this, so need a blind which can be showered!

I've searched for bathroom blinds, but no idea what they are like from websites.

I'm thinking of a simple roller blind, in a plasticky fabric I suppose. Any other ideas, or recommendations?

I had this in one of my early houses, I put up a plain glass shower screen in front of the window.

You could also get a round shower curtain rail and use the shower curtain. I'm rushing out now but will find a link later for you.

WRT blinds, I'm not sure if they make specific blinds for this, but I would think a cheap plastic venetian blind would be water proof, although I really would recomend using a shower screen.

I'd get the glass sandblasted or use window film instead, but you do need to make sure it is 100% opaque so no one can see in.
I dont think there are too many blinds which will withstand having a shower or two every day....

Thanks for your responses.
I can't afford a shower screen at that side, and circular shower curtain rails are really expensive and I think the curtain would stick to me and be annoying.
I suppose I only need to have the blind down when I have the light on in the bathroom.
We have a wooden venetian blind at the moment and its got showered on a few times and is ok, as I'm moving the shower to the other end of the bath it will happen a lot more.
Anyone know of any blinds which could work?

I just bought this as a temporary measure for the same problem and its actually really nice looking and sturdy.

Ebay shower thingy

Could you do a straight shower curtain and then cut it to size to fit the window IYSWIM?

I've found a water proof blind! It is more expensive than a shower screen though...

Waterproof blind £45 + £8.50 shipping

Glass shower screen £39.99

Ignoring the blind issue for a moment, is the window well sealed and fully tiled on the sill and the side bits? If not and you are running water into it daily you will have problems. They will end up costly, so while I fully understand not wanting to spend too much money, do make sure that you are not saving a pound now and ending up with an expensive job in a few months.

PVC blinds, totally waterproof, in a range of colours, ours works a treat, doesn't go mouldy.

The window sill will be fully tiled and at a slight angle so the water will run off, and window frames upvc. I only need the blind to be down when its dark outside and light inside to stop the peeping toms!

That rail looks ok actually BieneMaja.

Good idea Fishfinger! I hadn't thought of that! Could get a nice shower curtain, thats more curtainy than showery looking and it could do both jobs. Hmmm.

Thanks for the links, I'll take a closer look and try and decide.
