Has anyone ever separated a room using bifold doors?

We are seriously downsizing our home which means our 2 dc will have to share a bedroom. They are having the master bedroom which is large enough to divide into two and dh wants to install bifold doors as a divider so it can be opened right up to let air and light in but closed off for privacy etc.

Has anyone done similar? I am not convinced myself but dh is very keen and also very competent at diy.

I haven't but it's a fantastic idea i've been thinking of ways to section off my 30 foot living room into a living space / dining space thanks Grin

We didn't install them, but had them in our last house when we bought it - downstairs though between the lounge and dining room. Old fashioned doors though. Think its a really good solution for you.

This is the type and style we would have.

Anyone installed something like this?

I'm considering these to divide our lounge and try to keep the toys at the other end of it (wishful thinking!)

We have folding doors between our kitchen and living room. They are from the 60s and look awful but are very practical. For your situation I think the ones you have chosen look lovely.

My brothers shared the master bedroom in our house growing up, and they divided the room with a massive open shelving unit that they both filled with all their books and stuff. If they wanted to talk, one just removed a picture or chunk of books and they chatted through the gap!! Seemed to work well but maybe that's because I had my own room, as the only girl (smug!)
