Electric underfloor Heating

We've recently moved house and the family room, kitchen and utility areas all have underfloor heating. We haven't properly used this function yet as DH is worried about the cost of running it.

So today (as DH is out of the country) I thought I'd check it out. I switched it on at 9am this morning only meaning to leave it on for an hour and completely forgot about it till 10 mins ago. So it's been on constant for 10 hours and I'm now worried the bill will be extortionate.

Anyone have elec underfloor heating, is it really that pricey??

For one day in not-that-cold weather - no, it won't be that pricey. If you put it on for several hours a day all winter it certainly will be though.

Thanks Pootle I will confess to DH, he will probably have a moan!

Very expensive and inefficent specially on cold cold days. Electrical underfloor is idea for ensuite but not as a whole source in big rooms. Hot water system works more effiencent at a low temp hence low price.
