Builder has recommended for utility and bathroom floors - just have heard the "it it worth the extra cost" comments so many times and I have no idea how much they actually cost - especially as comments often refer to the extra costs of fitting etc. Please could I be nosy and try and get some idea of how much you paid/if you know the cost per sq m etc

Thank you

I have a cost of £1080 for my kitchen floor. Unfortunately the existing floor is a bit of a mess so they are having to do more prep work than if you have a nice dry, solid, flat floor. They will be prepping a space about 6m by 2.5m and then actually flooring about 13m2 by the time you knock off underneath kitchen cupboard space.

No idea if we are being ripped off, I just bloody want my kitchen back and my house straight. With a baby due in 5 weeks, I haven't really been able to shop around or play silly buggers negotiating on price or try to get components and fitters organised separately.

Just had a load of Karndean fitted - it was £60 or £65 /sq metre fitted, can't remember exactly. That was for the Van Gogh range.

I've seen Karndean can be anything from £25sq m, Amtico from £35. And up and up!

Just looking at ours too, everyone recommending Amtico so think we will go with that. However - can get scratched / dented (ie no stilettoes).

Don't be fooled by the headline price of £25 sqm quoted for the flooring itself. Adding on all the fitting costs like prep, glue, installation etc takes the actual price well over that - pretty much double I think.

We had our kitchen/ diner which is large ( basically 2 rooms knocked into one) done in amtico traditional oak for £1600 fitted. It's fantastic, so easy to clean and looks amazing. If you can afford it .. Amtico it !
