How long can we expect to wait after survey?

We are in the process of buying a house chain free and are having the survey done tomorrow. We have gone with a panel of HSBC conveyancers (which we realised after don't have a brill rep). It's been about 4 weeks since we put the offer in, which I think is ok up until now? How long can we expect to wait now until completion?

We are currently buying a house using HSBC, our solicitor has just told us that they need at least a week after exchange, but he is happier to leave it 2 weeks after exchange.

I think if every thing is straight forward the whole process can take about 6-8 weeks.

It's just important to keep communicating with every one. Good luck :)

Have you been sent the sellers pack/questionnaires? The solicitor' searches take a while. You can get things going by pressing for these items from the ea and solicitor.

After that it depends on the survey results.

Average from offer to completion used to be 16 weeks. That is roughly what it took for our current house but my first flat took more like 24 weeks because they had to get some retrospective permissions. So it depends on the property.
