Trifold doors in winter

What do people do. We have large trifold doors in our main family room. Currently have no curtains or anything.

Last winter it was cold and I didn't like. Or being able to shut out the dark.

I'm thinking of getting a curtain pole and big thick curtains which I can take down in spring (maybe replacing with voile panels)

What do you think?

Watching with interest as we are hoping for these kind of doors in our new extension and I (duh!) hadn't considered them as a big heat losing window.

Presumably you won't be opening them fully often during winter so the curtain wouldn't be in the way,
Is there any way of fixing individual curtains to the separate panels?

you might also consider venetian blinds or roll-down blinds, they are quite unobtrusive when raised.

Yorky I think it must depend on the type - ours certainly never lost heat - think they were double glazed with some sort of gas between the panes. We never had curtains.

We have moved house now and can't wait to start building work and put them in again.

I have a wall of doors that fold back and overlook out onto a patio.
I dont have a problem with cold from them so cant help you out there, but with regard to shutting out the dark, i have lights built in to the patio wall outside so when I'm indoors and its dark outside i turn on the patio lights so that i can see out into the dark iyswim? I can be sure theres no one outside looking in that i cant see.

I think I 'feel' cold in winter more than actually losing heat Blush
