Anyone find Woolwich slow processing mortgage applications?

Background: My mother has sold her house, but the people buying it are applying for a mortgage with the Woolwich, she is supposed to be moving out and to her new flat on 14th September (it's in Scotland where you put in dates of entry). Her buyer's solicitors seems to be stalling a bit, putting the blame on the Woolwich. The stress of it all is doing my head in, as we are dealing with the solicitors to try and make it as easy as possible for my mother and have packed up all her things and just left her with the very miniminal basics, then dh is going back to actually move her (we are in England).

Anyone using the Woolwich currently and finding they are actually slow processing paperwork?

We got our mortgage through Woolwich 12 months ago and they were painfully slow. In the end we had our Bank Manager at Barclays (Woolwich are actually Barclays) who luckily is also a personal friend, get involved and speed it up. We were ready to walk away from them and get a mortgage elsewhere.

Oh god. My husband and I just applied through Barclays (Woolwich) for our mortgage and need the application to go quite quickly. I think I shall just have to keep on their case.

I want to phone the Woolwich myself and shout and bawl, but of course I can't. If we even knew it was definately coming then I wouldn't feel so, I dunno, desperate I suppose. Thanks all and good luck financialwizard.
