Divans and upholstered headboards

Is anyone an expert?

Basically interested in knowing if there is much of a difference in quality depending on what you pay.

Obviously storage in the divan makes them more expensive, but can I just buy the cheapest one I find online, or is it a case of 'you get what you pay for'?

For the headboard, I want to recover when I get new curtains anyway, and I guess I could add extra foam then too... So again should I just get the cheapest? Or are the attachment bits better on dearer ones?

Sorry this is VERY dull!

I think the divan base is less important than the mattress. I'd spend as much as I could afford on the mattress because I'm a lazy cow because my sleep is very important to me!

For the headboard, paying more will get you better quality foam and a better finish. There are several ways to attach it - either to the bed, or to the wall (better I think) using mirror plates or split battens. Mirror plates are cheaper as you can buy them from a hardware shop, but they are fiddly to fit as you have to get them in exactly the right place and then line them up with the ones on the back of the headboard. Not easy with a 5 or 6 foot wide piece of upholstered timber....

We have a very nice mattress we got a couple of months ago.

I'll have to attach the headboard to the bed as our radiator will be behind the headboard.

I'm reckoning I might be able to go with cheapies for both of these then :)

For me I would go - cheap head board, medium quality divan, best matress you can afford.

Don't go for a cheap divan and an expensive matress as the divan wont given the support the matress needs, and the matress guarantee may be invalidated.
