hello,

Thanks for those who suggested lighting, I'm mulling them over.

I'm having second thoughts on what we should do.

Currently we've got howdens beech burgled units and a black worktop. I've built an island which I'm planning on painting in farrow and ball French Gray, the Walls I'm planning f&b clunch and one wall infrench Gray.

Initially we were going to get Ikea liatorp table and Ingolf chairs, then I fell in love with these table and chairs. I'm now worried we should go for something more modern to go with the howden units.

Also I was thinking either Ikea karlstad or Ektorp in a grey/black as I need something I can throw in the washing machine.

Please let me know what you think, I'm really confused :(

Id love to get rid of the howden units and replace with painted ones but we can't afford to do this, I'm worried I'm trying to decorate the room to go with a painted kitchen I don't have... Confused

If you want a painted kitchen any reason why you dont paint your current units?

My husband won't let me! To be honest they are in pretty good condition and we will get rid of them at some point ( after we do an extension). I've just got some new ones in the same range so that it looks like the kitchen has always been this shape, think I need to stick with the beech bur fords. Just need to work out what style table and sofa to go with them...

I've got several Karlstads and Ektorps (4 cats and a small boy). Just note that to get the whole cover off the Karlstads you need to dismantle th sofa and take the arms off. Ektorps cover pulls straight off.

Oh oldnewmummy I think that would be too much of a hassle, ektorp it is then, which colour do you have?

We've black. We've also a red Ektorp, Sivik grey Karlstad, and blue (from Bemz) in other rooms (Australia, lots of rooms). They do a lighter grey for Ektorp too, but we have the Tullsta chairs and they don't do the light grey for those chairs.

Have you seen the Bemz website? You can get covers to fit Ikea sofas in a wide variety of washable fabrics. They're a bit more expensive than Ikea, but at least you get something a bit different.

Oh thanks for that, I've ordered some samples although I suspect we will go with standard ikea ones, as I expect my husbands cats to wreck the covers...

Now just need to decide on a table and chairs...
