Miele cat and dog plug problem

Hi I have a Miele cat and dog which works fine but the electric cable which was sealed onto the plug has been stretched and has exposed at least an inch of wiring. The wiring isn't broken in anyway. Can I just swap the plug to a normal one which you take on and off with correct amp of course or does it need expensive repair?

I would say yes, just cut the cable right near the moulded plug obviously not while plugged in, duhhhrrr! ;) and replace it with a normal one. You'll probably find that the motor is around 2kW or possibly even more, so you'll need a 13A fuse. I'm not sure (I've not lived in the UK for a good few years) what the liability/legality implication of reselling it with a modified plug would be, if you were ever thinking of doing that....?

Before you do that contact Miele. Dependant on the age of the machine they may replace the cord for you.
