Leak / sealant question!!

Hi guys, we have recently discovered a leak coming through the ceiling of our hallway, most probably from the boiler above (which is still working fine and no obvious leaks- thinking a pipe we can't see??) the ceiling was papered when we moved in and we have now removed the paper to find that the plaster is degraded and there is a big crack where obviously the water is coming through.

Obviously we need to get someone to come and look at the boiler, and stop the problem at the source, but my question is this; is there a sealant of some frm we can use to 'block' the leak coming through the ceiling?? The crack is quite big an now we have taken off he paper the drips are fairly regular. I just want a stop gap really until we can get it sorted propery (which will be ASAP but not something we are confident doing ourselves!)

Thanks!!!

The water will have to go somewhere as long as it is still leaking. Unless you can find the source of the leak, I don't think sealing the crack will do much good - the water will just go somewhere else to do damage.
