Need something useful for putting shoes on and storaging hats gloves scarves etc. this thing looks perfect but gets a terrible review and seems expensive for what it probably is.

I don't mind spending a bit to get something decent. Anyone got or seen anything similar please?

Something like this scroll down

Thanks - but I need a bench with space for shoes and other stuff, but not a big seat as hall isn't big enough for a "statement" sort of seat. Essentially I need the one I linked to but better built!

Oh hang on, have gone through to the Cotswold co name checked in your link and it looks like they have some likely items - thank you!!

Have you considered bespoke? Seriously. Design your own to fit your space. OK, it'll cost more than say Dunelm but it'll work for you without compromise. And it wouldn't cost that much, be what you're looking for; will be the correct height, width, depth and appearance.

It's been my experience that stupid, apparently trivial stuff like this actually is Quite Important in the scheme of 'making it work for you and your family'. I like the fact we walk in, have an immediate place for the shoes/keys/coats/ school and work bags, where they immediately go and thus stop being a feature of the house.

Look in your local 'free' directory and call a couple of people.

Good idea Tansie. I would also check the size of the basket. Make sure you can get the largest pair of shoes into the basket. DH has massive feet and I have ruined a few pairs trying to squeeze them into the baskets Blush

I have just bought [[http://www.myakka.co.uk/Product/hathi_storage_seat this and love it! They have got some other options too if this is too big/not to your taste.

oops this!

Try the Dormy House. They do something like that. I was looking for ages and finally decided on getting a bench, and then some baskets to go under.

If you find a local joiner you could get something like that made.

Seriously. My DS made several pieces of furniture in a similar style for me, at a fraction of the price.
