How do I choose a removal company? Help!

OK, I need to find a removal company PDQ, and I really don't know where to start. Last time I moved was with a self-drive transit van, but that was a very long time ago...

I'm in urgent need of tips about how I select one.

And if anyone can either recommend a removal company in the Swindon area, or alternatively, warn me about any dodgy ones, I will be eternally in their debt.

Make sure the firm belongs to the BAR and get them to come round to your house to quote.

I moved recently and didn't know the date until very last minute but it wasn't at all difficult to find someone - I think business is slow at the moment. I had 3 firms round to quote and chose the one I liked best and then negotiated him down to the price of the cheapest of the three.
