How do you hang a rug on the wall????

We were given a prayer mat (very thick) as a gift a few years ago - we've recently moved and would now like to display it. We don't have room to put it anywhere on the floor so now thinking it would look nice on the wall. Can this be done or am I crazy??! Thank you!

You can do that, many rugs are for display. I think you need a rod to attach it to, like a curtain, rather than nailing it to the wall with lots of nails. I'd go to a rug shop and see if they can give you suggestions how to attach the rug to the rod without damaging it.

It sounds lovely!

Thank you monsterchild that's a brilliant idea! It is a lovely prayer mat, it's 'vintage' so has a nice homely look about it. It was a wedding present from DSil, she always thinks of really original gifts!

You need the sort of gripper rods that are used to hold carpet down in doorways. Attach that to the wall and hang carpet off it. We had exactly that in our old house, and yes, it looks fab.

Gripper rods would be perfect. Is it very heavy? Ikea do curtain rails and clips to hold fabric instead if curtain rings

The easiest way, that causes least damage to the rug, is to sew a pocket along the top edge of the rug, then hang it on a curtain pole on the wall.

The rug is quite heavy but I could definitely give all your ideas a go (and hope one sticks, so to speak!). Thank you x
