Removing biro from radiator

My little reprobate angel has kindly decorated my mum's radiator with biro. I've tried water and baby wipes but it won't come off. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I going to have to repaint it? Would rather not though as it's about five feet long.

Hairspray might work. I remember Kim and Aggie cleaning radiators with it and im sure it was biro. Wink

if it isn't too bad a magic eraser might get it off. otherwise methylated spirits is supposed to remove ink.

Ooh thank you both. I thought of hairspray but haven't got any here so I'll try the method first.

Bar Keeper's Friend!

It really is a good friend to have in the home.

cream cleaner?

More great ideas, I'll give it another try (couldn't get any hairspray or meths easily!)

Use those spongy wall wipes Doktor Power. B&Q do them, and I think Homebase do too. Don't rub too hard though, or it could take a thin layer of paint off.

I realise this is a very old thread, but has anyone had any luck getting biro off white radiators? We now have a flower drawn on ours.. I've tried soap and water, and Sticky Stuff Remover but neither of these have shifted it.. It can't have been there longer than a day! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!??!

I used nail varnish on cotton wool - worked a treat.
