Blinds help

We are moving into a new house very soon. The windows are really awkward - quite wide and they open in the way.

I do not want curtains as they make the room seem small. My DH says that wooden blinds are out as they would crack when the windows are open. I was thinking of roman blinds? Anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks x

I am confused it doesn't take much by the term "they open in the way"

Do you mean they open inwards rather than push outward, also confused as to why wooden blinds would crack with the windows open.

I have french doors in my lounge and as we have them open a lot we decided on perfect fit blinds so that they wouldn't be swinging about in the wind, it is a bay window arrangement with 2 windows either side so although we have curtains they merely frame the bay but don't close.

Sorry, we have the same problem in a rental flat we own. After a few tries we have ended up with curtains.
Roman blinds, fitted outside the recess should work if you pull them up fully before opening the windows
