Sealing floors/slippery stairs..

What can I seal an ash floor with that won't darken the wood? It is such a lovely pale colour I don't want it to turn orange.

Sorry about title, I put the stairs in a separate thread to avoid confusion.

We used a clear wax (low VOC) by ronseal. There are lots of nice products around now to avoid the 1980's orange look

Did the clear wax darken the wood? We used Danish oil last time we had ash but it did darken it a bit, that is what I want to avoid this time.

No. I can't remember the name but it was some sort of modified super hard wax (4 years on and still going strong). We actually had to use a stained version of it for 2 extra coats because the previous owner had put down cheap vile boards that sanded to a very very nasty pale yellow and the first clear coat had no darkening effect like we had hoped. It was about £50 for a large tin.
