floating toilets?

The search for minimum-clean-things continues...

...was in a pub toilet and they had sinks and loos WITHOUT PEDESTALS!

So,nowhere for my sons' and DH's errant wee to collect around and stink! Want.

Can't see any online - do they have a name I can use to search for?

Wall hung? There is a frame in the wall here that the basin fits to.

Same with the toilet, see here for more stuff.

Must make cleaning the floor super easy! Envy

They were a huge trend about 5 years ago. We didn't get one as there is a 19 stone weight limit and really didn't want a loo &MIL disaster! Think that's why they're less common now.

Brilliant.

The 19 stone limit might just be enough to motivate me to finally lose the baby weight...

looks like they are more sensible than I anticipated. I'm going for Easy Clean, stuff style and all the magazine claptrap - I want a wee skoosh and a wee wipe, "and snap, the job's a game"

ehm, that reads wrong.

I meant a skoosh of bleach and a wipe of a mop.

Did not mean to give a graphic account of urinating.

Apologies

An image was forming in my mind til you clarified!

if you tile over the hatch to the cistern you will be enraged when the washer needs changing.

Trills · 07/08/2012 10:06

I don;t like them, they freak me out.

Trills · 07/08/2012 10:06

(I am rather less than 19 stone, but still)

PigletJohn · 07/08/2012 10:11

p.s.

A useful tip - Plumbworld do not, AFAIK, advertise their trade warehouse clearance to the public, but if on their webpage you put "clearance" into the "search" box near the top, it will show you what they've got. I got fantastic deals on end-of-range Aqualisa showers a couple of years ago. They are also good for taps which can be very expensive.

nankypeevy · 07/08/2012 10:43

Thanks chaps.

To be honest, Trills, I'm not keen on the look either. But, I can live with that more than I can live with the inventive approach to piddling my 3 boys have...

Piglet - I was hoping to avoid tiles. Mould in the grout and all that, yuk. Was hoping to get just bath panels and indestructable paint - I presumed I'd just make a wee hatch? Or rather, that the builder would...my skills are limited to ineffective wee mopping.

We have 3 of them - wouldn't go near a pedestal now! Cistern is easy to access if you build a sort of half wall just deep enough to take the frame and top with something easily removable (eg a handy wooden shelf.) Ours are not tiled, just painted in wipe-clean bathroom paint. Still perfect 6 years on ( touch wood!). Water bills went down hugely too - they tend to be quite efficient. Ours are Grohe/Bathstore.

PigletJohn · 07/08/2012 10:48

The hatch can be as big as you like, and might look less fussy if big. Can be fixed with domed mirror screws.

laminated board might be OK. similar to what is used for kitchen worktops. Hard wearing, easy to clean. Don't get vinyl-foiled board, which is rubbish.

You can also get water-resistant board called Aquapanel which is used for shower cubes and tiled, I don't think I've seen it painted though.

Piglet, Thanks for the Plumbworld website tip, v useful.

OP, if you build the cistern in behind a half wall, some of the larger flush plates can act as access plates too.

nankypeevy · 08/08/2012 10:37

Brill.

thanks guys, a builder came round yesterday so at least I sounded more knowlegable than I actually am!

Excited about a loo that doesn't stink of pee...

Was coming on to mention not tiling over cistern but see Pigletjohn beat me to it.
