Budget but Ok kitchens...advice and suggestions needed

My house was flooded a few weeks ago and will now be having a new kitchen. Unfortumately it is going to have to be a budget-ish one as the insurers will only pay for replacement of the base units which means I have to fork out for wall units and worktops, and I have limited means currently.

Any suggestions for makes / models of kitchens that are ok but not expensive? Do ok budget kitchens exist (really hope so)

How do I go about making the most of my limited funds to get the best kitchen? - can't wait around for sales as the work needs to be done as soon as possible.

Any ideas welcome

Thanks

B&Q are worth a look.

IKEA, howdens?

I got mine from B&Q & I've very very happy with it. Not cheap looking.Went fro the walnut shaker style. Compared to the oak style (which was cheap looking) this is much better. I've had lots of compliments on it x

IKEA or new carcasses with replacement doors for both floor & wall cupboards probably cheapest way to go.

We got ours built by a local company that makes them and it came in less expensive, custom made and solid wood doors than we could have bought a flat-pack, unfitted ikea kitchen in the sale. If you can find a similar joiner that builders go to for things and who doesn't have an expensive showroom you might get a good deal.

Thanks. I've no idea what cheap is. I haven't a clue about prices other than kitchens seem very dear.
Interesting to hear about the Ikea carcases being more solid. Am off to look at Ikea kitchens next weekend.
