Where do you find land for sale?

Where is land advertised for sale? IE The rightmove of the land world!

It is very unlikely I'd go down this route but it would be nice to know IF a piece of land came up in my dream location so we could consider building our own house.

some plots make it on to rightmove but i think the best way is walking the streets and making an offer if you have an area in mind. bear in mind you need a lot of ready cash to be a self builder as mortgage is done retrospectively and/or after agreed stages of the build. check out the eco building society. they are one of the few specialist lenders i think who are up for projects.

Finding a plot for self build is incredibly difficult. If you want to dream a bit buy a copy of house building & renovation, or build it! If that's still going. Locally look out for Knockers (wrecks or small houses on nice big plots). When we were waiting to exchange on our plot the vendor had cash offers from people turning up with carrier bags full of £50 notes trying to gazump us.

Thanks for the info, sounds like it is a very tricky route to go down. Is frustrating as it would be so nice to build your own house!

Slight digression but some land just went on sale around the corner from me - this is incredibly rare (I live in south west London). I sprinted home as soon as I saw the for sale board aware that I probably couldn't afford it but curious to know by how much: here are the details for one of the two plots Shock Shock Shock.

WOW over 3 million just for the land!! Has planning permission for a luxury house in a great location though I guess....

Probably won't bid on this one Grin

A good place to see land for sale now is landlister where you can browse their land for sale throughout the UK
