Where did you buy your kitchen worktop?

We are looking at a Howdens kitchen but someone recommended to us that we buy the worktop separately. I can't remember whether that was recommended to save money or improve quality or choice.

Any thoughts or recommendations please?

we got ours (Beech) from Ebay.
Do you want wood?

It was very cheap but the only thing I would suggest is that you order it very near to when you fit it as if you leave them propped up on their side they warp.

I think we used these people : here

Yes, we want wooden. Sorry, should have said that in my original post.

Thanks for tip on ordering them in advance. I can't access ebay at work so will look at your link when I get home.

Barncrest comes highly recommended on MN. I've only ordered samples so far from them, but they have been very helpful. If I decide on wood I'd definitely use them.

Ids - international decorative surfaces. Not cheap but good quality. Really regret going cheap on our recent wood worktop as it has developed faults. To replace it we would have massive disruption and big expense. Thought we would support a small local/online business but they went bust then restarted so have no recourse. Go for good quality and a stable supplier was our painful lesson!

We bought our worktop seperately and the only thing to bear in mind if you are having a howdens kitchen is I think that Howdens units are slightly deeper than standard. The worktop they sell is 616mm depth but most others we came across were only 600mm depth which leaves absolutely no lip at all. We ended up buying breakfast bar depth and then our fitter cut it down which cost quite a bit more.
