Does anyone know about these? I live in a house that has been converted into flats, the other 2 flats are occupied by council tenants, and the council as freeholder has appointed a surveyor. I am entitled to ask for an independent surveyor to be appointed to act for me, which will be at the expense of the next door neighbours doing the work.

Presumably it would be sensible for me to do this? The neighbours are excavating their garden to extend their basement kitchen. I am on the first floor flat next door to this.

Yes it is sensible to ask for a surveyor and maybe a structural engineer too for basement works.

You can choose your own and ask them to write a fee proposal addressed to your neighbours. Normally your surveyor will recommend an engineer if you need one.

If you are in London pm me and i can suggest a good surveyor.
