What does this info about rotting wood mean?

Trying to buy a house and the home report says there are decaying timbers externally and the external fascia timbers are weathered and decaying. We now need to get a timber specialist report. Any idea what it could mean? I am getting worried.

Surely it just means you will shortly need to replace your fascias and soffits?

It's means the outside wood is knackered. Get a report, find out what it will cost and then decide if it's worth renegotiating the price. If it's a couple of hundred to do a few bits then it's not worth it. If it's thousands then yes it is wirth getting the price down again if you can - but if you've already got a big chunk off then you may well need to swallow it.

House needs loads of work, I was more worried that my lender might pull out.
