giant glass tile things?

We're about to do an extension.

I'm opting to ignore all matters of style in favour of Easy Cleaning.

My perfect house is devoid of all nooks and crannies - as cleaning is not my forte...

So, am looking for glass splashbacks instead of tiles for the kitchen and the wetroom, and, in all likelihood - the bathroom.

Is there a name for the giant sheets of glass you fit in showers etc?

Not just glass tiles - the huge ones.

And, is there any drawback to having these glass thingies?

I hate grout. Or rather, all my grout looks rubbish because it's full of spag bal sauce and mould...

I went to a glazing company (they do windows, mirrors, double glazing, etc) and they cut, shape, polish, etc to order. You give them a RAL number for whichever colour you want then they do it all and fit it. I have an enormous mirrored bit in the bathroom (nowhere where you'd see yourself unexpectedly though!) and dark brown splashback and surround on a walnut vanity unit in a bedroom. We debated them for the kitchen but have got granite upstands so are trying with just paint first.
