I have seen a couple of threads on here about some of the more expensive brands, but I'm just looking for your average / available at DIY chain paint to paint a bed and bedside table for my daughter.

Amy recommendations and tip for the actual process of painting the items?

Many thanks

Have you looked at Annie Sloan paints? They are chalk basedand can be painted on to any surface, no preparation needed. At about £16 fora litre you should have plenty for a bedside cabinet.

Can't go wrong with dulux

Thanks for the Annie Sloan recommendation - just what I've been looking for!

Thank you!

I'm painting over a bed that has been previously painted - think it may have been gloss paint. If I sand it down, do I need to prime it before I use the Annie Sloan paint?

Many thanks

According to the Annie Sloan website - no you don't! It will stick better to a rougher surface but the sanded wood should be fine on its own. Go have a look, there's loads of info (and a list of stockists.)
