Kitchen appliance recommendations

We have finally decided to bite the bullet and remodel our kitchen and think we're going to go for a Harvey Jones shaker style kitchen. I don't want it to be too 'country' style though, so was thinking of going for a built in oven and separate hobs, rather than a big range cooker to make it look more modern and contemporary. We currently have an integrated fridge and dishwasher, but think we'll go for an American style fridge rather than integrated, but stick with an integrated dishwasher.

For anyone that has recently upgraded their appliances, or have been researching, do you have any brands/models you would recommend or avoid? I'm thinking of going for an induction hob and steam oven as these seem to have good reviews - recommendations?

This is our 'for at least 15 years family home' so whilst we don't want to remortgage the house to get decent appliances, I don't want to be regretting things 7 years down the line as I'm trying to cook a Christmas dinner for 10 using a clapped out oven that won't take a turkey.

Thanks in advance for ANY suggestions or advice

Watching with interest as we're hoping to get ours redone with new units and appliances early next year

Is it worth subscribing to Which to check out their reports on appliances? IIRC you can normally get a trial sub for a month or two.

FWIW I don't think you can go far wrong with Bosch for dishwasher and fridge. Don't know about ovens - Neff?

Thanks, I have subscribed to Which for that very reason! Unfortunately, it's making me even more confused as the customer reviews don't seem to accord with Which's best buy recommendations which is worrying.

I've been doing some research, and quite like a Fisher&Paykel American style fridge freezer I've found, with the freezer at the bottom so the fridge part is still quite wide. F&P also do dish drawers as well, in addition to regular dishwashers and I'm quite drawn to them. Has anyone got a dish drawer and would you recommend?

I've had Miele oven and induction hob. Am now using Neff (slide a way door) ovens and Gorenje induction hob (because I wanted a white hob!). All have been very good. I also have a Smeg (retro) fridge freezer. Fridge part fine, but freezer section a bit on small side.

I've always had Miele washers, dryers and dish washers. They last (almost) forever.

i can't offer any suggestions but whatever you buy go to john Lewis or m&s. their prices are not cheapest but if there is a problem their service is exemplary!

Have had an LG American-style fridge/freezer for 6 years and not had any problems with it.

Neff double oven. Neff Flexinduction hob & wok burner. CDA Extractor. Miele washing machine. Samsung G-series American Fridge Freezer (need to plumb this in so kitchen planning required). Caple Wine Chiller. Insinkerator Boiling Water Tap. (Favourite 'gadget'). IKEA dishwasher (cos it was a bargain otherwise I would have bought a Maytag one).

Don't have any particular recommendations but I would avoid SMEG appliances at all costs!
