Moving...boxes routinely supplied, or not?

DP says removal companies always supply boxes free/included in quote. Last time I moved I bought my own from one of those storage companies. He has moved plenty of times and always had boxes provided.

So, do I buy boxes or will the removal company supply them?

Incidentally, we hope to exchange on Friday and complete on Aug 14th, but won't know for sure until Friday that this is possible. I can't book a removal company that might not be available the day we complete. I have to pack this week as we are away on holiday from next Sunday until 11 August.

Any advice?

Boxes were included last time we moved (3 years ago). They popped round a few days later to take back the ones we had emptied. Thy also used hanging crates to transport wardrobe contents.

Suggest you get on the phone on Monday, get some quotes and make a provisional booking with a removals firm. They are well used to the last-minute nature of house sales, and you won't have to commit until you exchange (conversely, if you can't find a removals company that can do the 14th that might influence your completion date).

If we used their packing service boxes were free - if self-packed had to pay - well that was this move.

Previous moves - once boxes part of price and another time had to pay nominal amount.

WE got enough boxes recently from a removals van on the street - I asked if they recycled their boxes and they said no - I could take them - result! :)

Otherwise our movers (self pack) brought only 10 bxes with them. Depends on what service you pay for. It might be worth a pack and move service. Then they will do everything for you in the day before the move once you're back from holiday.

Just ask the removal company. I have never had free boxes supplied and always had to buy my own from the removal company.
