Hi, is it ok to paint over gloss with satin? Does it need to be primed first and can i use emulsion for that?

Someone i know painted a wall in satin and it cracked all over! Im not sure what type of paint he was going over but i want to avoid that! Shock

Do you mean paint for woodwork, or for walls? Assuming the former, you can paint satin over gloss, but give it a light sand first (then a wipe with a damp cloth to get rid of dust) so the new paint will stick.

Woodwork.

Should be fine then. Just a quick once over with fine sandpaper to rough up the surface, or the satin won't stick and will peel off.

Cool thank you!
