West/south facing dining room

Our current dining room is currently a deep red. It's west/south facing so sunny in afternoon/evening (when the shines.

I want to repaint as changing the room to a playroom. I'm thinking grey/green but not sure. In the mornings the room feels quite cool due to no sun so need something warming and that will also still look nice in the afternoon when the sun comes round.

We've also got a wooden surround fireplace so planning to paint that as well.

Any ideas? It's quite a big room (4x4m) with two windows side by side so a lot of light gets in.

I have a south west facing kitchen and it was painted a blue/grey colour when we moved in. I hated it with a passion, it was cold and depressing. I think a warmer colour would be better.

We have a southwest kitchen and dining room. Painted in f&b Pointing, which is a white, with a creamish undertone. Not practical, as not really wipeable. But it looks great.

Thank you both. I think I'll give up the idea of grey - I like it in pictures but can't see how it would work.

I'll have a look at the pointing although it was magnolia cream before. Not worried about being wipe clean as there is little wall space in danger of being smeared.

I know what you mean about cream. We had painted a west facing room in Dulux Morning Glory, and it was, well, cream. F&B Pointing is understated and changes colour through the day. The kitchen part has modern emulsion and the dining room the matt one. I do prefer the kitchen one. The slight sheen actually adds warmth to the colour and makes it look quite rich.

I like the idea of the F&B. Have ordered samples! Thabks
