Good areas in and around Woking

Dear All,
We are planning to buy a house near Woking and would really appreciate your views on the areas around it. Houses are so costly and some of the houses we think we can afford and are better value for money are around Goldsworth park area. Do you have any idea which areas in Goldsworth Park are good?
Houses near Kingfield are slightly cheaper, but it seems to be not as good an area as Goldsworth park or St. Johns. Not sure though..
Please please, if someone can give their views if they know the areas better..
Would also be more interested in being near to Goldsworth Primary school.

We used to live around that area although it was pre-children so things like schools weren't important, we were more interested in walking time to the station or pub! My personal opinion (and it is only that) is that St John's is a nice area, still retains a village-y feel with the green and playground, Horsell is also a nice area but probably overall more expensive than some other areas you mentioned and Goldsworth Park is very mixed. If schools are a concern and you particularly want Goldsworth Park Primary (which is currently consulting on an increase to 3-form entry) then you really need to speak to the school and find out the furthest distance they have offered places to in the past few years and make sure you are well within that.

If you can give an idea of your budget, that would help people in making more useful suggestions. For instance, Hook Heath is geographically quite close to the school but unless you have at least £500k to spend not very realistic!

Hi, I'm not sure if you're still looking but I thought I'd wade in anyway! Horsell is lovely. Really lovely area. I think St Johns is nice also (although don't live there) Old woking / kingfield is ok.. ish and goldsworth park is also nice. Avoid Sythwood and Maybury. Goldsworth school was a 500m catchment last year although with the increase in catchment will probably increase that next year.

We drive pretty much everywhere in Woking though, so schools aside I'm not really sure how much the area affects us. I guess it depends on your lifestyle.

Woking is a lovely lovely friendly area though, vastly underrated I'd say. We only moved here 9 months ago and people go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. They are remodelling the town centre and there is so much to do with children. If you need any more advice please don't hesitate to PM me.
