Argos Furniture- good value or rubbish?

I'm looking for affordable wooden furniture and came across this.

Here

It looks nice, the other stuff in the range has good reviews but I'm wary. It isn't self assembly which is a big plus, but I've heard Argos furniture is a bit crap. Help me decide please.

I think the cheap argos furniture is poor quality crap but the more expensive ranges are good quality

I had some of their solid pine bedroom furniture before I moved house and it was excellent

order it, you can always send it back if it's not what you want :)

Shouldacouldawoulda · 03/07/2012 14:18

Is it easy to return do you think? Anyone had any experience of returning furniture?

I have some oak units in my lounge from Argos and I am really pleased with them. I have send large items back to Argos before without hassle.

usualsuspect · 03/07/2012 14:31

Its no worse than Ikea furniture

workshy · 03/07/2012 14:32

yeah you just ring them up, ask them to come and get it and they do

even if it's just that you don't like it they never quibble

Shouldacouldawoulda · 03/07/2012 16:15

Right, by the power of Mumsnet I will buy it! If it's rubbish I'll just send it back. Thanks peeps. :)

I'm gonna buy some Argos furniture www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6437220/Trail/searchtext%3EHYGENA+STRAND.htm for the bedroom. Reviews seems OK & many are pleased with them. And the big bonus is they're ready assembled (worht paying that bit extra IMO).

BUT be wary with delivery. I ordered 4 pairs of dining chairs on the 21st of June & paid for delivery to come tomorrow. I got a call on Monday to say they won't arrive till the 28th! So I've already complained & asked for my delivery charge back. If they don't come on the 28th there'll be hell to pay.

Shouldacouldawoulda · 04/07/2012 14:51

I put them all in my basket and was about to pay when a message came up saying out of stock. I have found other stuff on another site, better quality only slightly more expensive. Worth a look with good interest free credit deals too.

That's not an advert by the way- looks suspect- poster saying they are looking for furniture then posts a link. :)

it tends to come out smaller than it looks in the pics. Read the measurements carefully and compare them to what you have.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I posted in cots/beds and only got on reply from someone asking the same as me!
I'm looking to buy a mid sleeper for my 3.5 yr DD and can't afford the likes of stompa, flexa etc at £500. I'm looking at one from next and one from Argos. Anyone have experience or advice about them?

I have the bunk bed and the high sleeper version of the next one, Actual

They are both nice and sturdy once assembled, and the assembly is not difficult, either. We've been happy with them.

Kaloobear · 05/07/2012 13:07

If you want an alternative I recently bought two wardrobes and a chest of drawers from Oak Furniture Land and was really impressed. They're fully assembled (I hate flat pack) and really sturdy, plus lovely looking. They also arrived much more quickly than they were supposed to which was a good bonus!

MoaningMinnieWhingesAgain · 05/07/2012 13:09

I had a large blanket box from there Kello and it is gorgeous. Very very sturdy.

Kaloo even

Oak Furniture Land do some lovely solid bargains but they are cheap as they get damaged loads and sell the contents hoping yours will be ok or they can don you off with their repairer. Getting a broken table replaced was a right pain and I had to use my credit card to get a refund. However I would use them again simply because the lovely table would have been 5x the price elsewhere!

So use a credit card to buy from them in case you need a refund!

ActualAl · 05/07/2012 16:19

Thanks for the replies! Good to get a good review of the next bed, I've heard good things from a few people about it.
I looked at oak furniture land but they don't seem to do mid sleepers ( saw lots of other stuff I liked though!)

Noooo to Oak furniture land , nice when it all arrives ok but a complete nightmare to deal with if anything goes wrong. They had my money for well over a month whilst repeatedly delivering broken tables. When I finally lost my patience and said don't bother just refund, they took weeks to sort it out. Without even a sorry for the days of missed deliveries.

You may have a look at some kids furniture from Dako online store. My friends have ordered some furniture from this store few months ago and they are satisfied. I always try to buy my furniture at local stores, but I understand some people like to order them at online stores. ;)
