Hi!!
My husband, son and I are moving to Hertfordshire for my husband's job. Can anyone give me their opionions on good areas. Need to consider schools, our son is almost 2, so primary schools will be very important, but also looking ahead to secondarys too. Any good primarys you would recommend?
So far we are considering St Albans, Sawbridgeworth and Bishop Stortford, but open to any other ideas. Don't need to be close to station, husband will be driving to work.
Thanks for the help :)

I can't help you with area's, but I have found this website useful: www.commuterguide.co.uk/counties/hertfordshire

Do you want town or village?

I moved out of St Albans to a village near Berkhamsted. The countryside around here is lovely, Berkhamsted is good for day to day shopping and small independents. We also have the fantastic Rex Cinema and Whipsnade on the doorstep. Village schools and local shops (for local people!).

Village schools - Gaddesden Row, Great Gaddesden, Little Gaddesden, Potten End and Aldbury.

St Albans about 20 mins drive.

Have a look at Potten End, Nettleden, Frithsden, Great Gaddesden/St Margrets, Little Gaddesden, Ringshall, Aldbury.

If you think you might like to try the grammar system you must have a Bucks postcode - we're on the border of Beds and Bucks here.

Thanks both of you!
Villages would be lovely. Used to towns, but happy to move to a quiter location, especially if it means a good school. Wlll have a look in to those places!
Seems so hard to choose the right house in the right location for certain schools, and at the right price!

not sure if Barkway or Barley would be too far for you (very north herts) but it's a beautiful area, villages v picturesque but also very down to earth. we live in south cambs, but it's a stone's throw from north herts! PM me if you want more info.

Think they might be a little too far for us, thanks :)

Do you know if bishop stortford has a lot of noise from the airport? Prices seem to be good there
