VAT on letting mgt fee?

Hi, my letting agent quoted me 10% of the rental income as their fee for managing the property. I got their fee note today, however, and they've charged VAT on top of this. Is this typical? Just checking as they did quote me 10%, not 10% + VAT.

Yes I'm charged VAT on top also. And they didn't mention it to me when we discussed fees...they just said 10%....naughty!

Please do us tenants a favour and let directly - then we both avoid these stupid fees! :)
