My nephew's bought his first house.

What shall I buy? Something cool but useful.

I think a drink related gift might be good, the rabbit wine bottle opener is pretty funky, but depends on your budget, compare Internet prices.
Or nice bottle of wine in a cooler?
Good to get a gift that's not a necessity but useful still.
Did you look in Lakeland catalogue?

Cant link as on phone but Amazon sells a figurine of a man with kitchen knives in him, £50.

Also, a jokey present, a stack of takeawy menys from his local area Grin

Most useful thing is either a good first aid box, or a DIY kit with basic screwdrivers, fuses, picture hanging stuff, hammer, rawlplugs. The sort of thing that you never know you don't have till you really need it

depends how hard up he is, what he's got already, what you want to spend.

A ggod toaster, kettle and some mugs if he hasn't already got them.

Beware of cheap sets of DIY tools, but a comprehensive set of screwdrivers, made of Chrome Vanadium (as a rough guide, only ever buy tools made of this - it will be stamped on them and printed on the package) from a DIY shed will last for many years, and not cost much. Add a plastic toolbox if you want to spend a bit more.

He quite likes cooking so maybe that knife block would be a good idea.

knife block, nice idea, cooking knives are manly.

I would add the biggest plastic chopping board you can find to go with them.

we got DBIL a biscuit tin & umpteen packs of biscuits & a crate of beer. Not imaginative but appreciated!
