How long did it take for your place to settle?

From having your offer accepted to exchanging how long did it take? And how long was your chain, if any?

We have just bought our first home and are at the end of chain. I have fears we will be waiting forever to exchange - that's if it doesn't fall over first!

I have no idea what is reasonable.

My first flat - forever, so long my mortgage offer nearly expired, which would have cost £300ish. It was a problem with the freehold/leasehold paperwork rather than the chain though.

My house - less than 6 weeks, seller was on verge of repossession and needed to move fast, our buyer was impatient and wanted us out.
