Ideas needed for shading a conservatory

Recently moved to a home with a conseratory. The roof of it is clear glass, very very very slightly tinted. It gets extremely hot in the day which isnt ideal for us as we use it as a tv/play room for the kids.

I just got a quote for roof blinds and it came in at 1,100 (ceiling only). Far more expense than I had thought.

Has anyone ever done anything different to shade a conservatory?? I was wondering if there was a special paint that I could apply or some type of sticky plastic covering (am I being mad)

Thanks!!

We were lucky in that we ended up being able to afford roof blinds earlier than we thought. Before that my plan had been to put up net-curtain/cafe rods at each end of each pane and do a DIY jobby with nice voile material attached between the two. Wouldn't be able to be opened and closed easily but would do the job...

Had thought of that. Get some sort of light fabric/voile however when it comes to fabric and sewing I would be at a loss. Maybe I should get a few more quotes for the roof blinds!!!!
