What else should I be doing/getting on the case with???

Ok so we accepted an offer on our house first week of May. Had our offer accepted on house same week.

So, we have got the sold sign up (been up for over a month) and solicitors have done the searches and are now dealing with a few little enquiries relating to the searches. We have got the mortgage offer.

Have removals coming to do quote this week.

Have sorted new schools.

Just feel as though things are starting to drag on and in the meantime I'm not doing anything other than waiting. Should I be doing anything else other than chasing solicitors weekly? (called this am and was told not to worry these things take time...but I'm impatient and can't wait to get on with move!!!)

I have done two moves with no chains and the shortest time I have managed is 8 weeks. Think it is just one of those things and patience is a must when moving house. Think this is one of the reasons it is on the most stressful lists.

packing ?

decluttering ?

Not much else you can do in the meantime...

Will you need to find new doctors and dentists?

Check out the loft, garage and garden for anything you can start boxing up.

List for change of address.

Thanks will get on to doctors and dentists and making lists so when it is finally a go situation at least I'm organised,

Just so impatient! not very good at waiting but suppose I can always get some practice in for that!

If you have a Financial Advisor ask him/her to tell all you pension/critical illness companies....I did this - saved me much, much faff.

Have you had a survey done (if you want one)? If you haven't yet exchanged, you need to get buildings insurance in place from the date of exchange. If the house burns down between exchange and completion the liability is on you, apparently.

mahonga · 21/06/2012 13:36

Have you set a date for exchange? We're two weeks into the conveyancing process (surveys done, draft contracts issued, and searches underway) and all parties and solicitors in the chain have just agreed to a date in July for exchange.
