Collapsing Chains - when to call it a day?

First chain the house we were buying pulled out, so we lost surveyor's fees etc.

Second chain has just collapsed the day of exchange when our buyer has been put at risk of redundancy so pulled out. So surveryor's fees and legal costs down the drain.

So we are well over £1K out of pocket for nothing and back to square one. So frustrating.

Has anyone got encouragement about how to keep any motivation about this whole moving process as I'm about ready to give up and stay put. Has this happened to anyone else?

find a house with no chain!

be prepared to move out if offered the right price. actually if you do things this way round you are much less vulnerable... as a 'cash/mortgage only required' buyer you have a bit more power.

we have had two buyers for our own house pull out. twats.
Just want to get sold so we can find somewhere before summer holidays!

what is you reason for selling? difficulty doesn't make that reason go away.
