Another thread on Karndean!

I have finally chosen the Karndean I wanted and have 2 quotes - both of which are much higher than I thought.

The first one works out at about £54 per m2 (from a place that said it would cost £29 for the product and £10 for the fitting). I called up to query this and it turns out that ply is added on top of this when I thought it was included in the fitting cost. However, this is still a good price until I found out that the fitter isn't Karndean registered.

The second one is a proper supplier and the fitter would be Karndean registered. This quote came out as £66 per sq metre. However, again I was given the impression it would be cheaper (£33 for product and £25 for fitting so about £58 in total). They also gave the impression that fitting included all materials (as it should at that price!).

So what I wanted to ask was how much did your fitting cost per m2 and did it include ply and other materials?

Just had mine done and it was either £60 or £65 /m fitted (can't remember exactly). This was a registered fitter, and I did not need ply, just screed. There are different types of Karndean, this was Van Gogh. There are cheaper and more expensive ranges than this I believe.

I love it, by the way, it has transformed my house (had virtually all of downstairs done).

Thanks for letting me know your costings, I think it is the ply that is pushing my price up. I am getting Van Gogh too (French Oak), I love this range.

Mine is the Auckland Oak. I came home today and when I opened the door I had sort of forgotten that it had been done, and I was so surprised and happy when I saw it.

I do realise I need to get out more.

I bet it looks lovely. I have now booked it in and they gave us a slight discount, less than 2 weeks to go now! I need to get out more too!!
