Oven near gas boiler - is this ok?

So, I am hoping that you experienced housey/kitcheny peeps can give me some advice...

Looking at getting a new kitchen, but have hit a question already: I want a double oven (electric), at hip height ish, but where I'd ideally like it to go is right next to where the gas boiler currently is.

Are there regs, or recommendations as to the required distance between oven and gas boiler?

NB the hob would be a few metres away.

I googled this for you and there are regulations, apparently they should be on your appliances but if not, if you google it there are some knowledgable answers, it depends on if there is a hood etc the distance required.

Ah, thanks nunnie - I also googled, and found info about not having the hob near the boiler, but couldn't see anything about the oven. My situation s the latter, the hob would (ideally) be on another wall!

Ohh then reading what I have then that shouldn't be a problem but it does say it should be in your appliance instructions. Or you could be to a joiner or fitter they should know.

In my old flat, the oven was at bottom level unit with the hob on top &, where the eye level unit would have been, was the hood with extractor fan. Immediately next to the hood was a unit with the combi gas boiler in it. This was done about 5 yrs ago now but neither the gas fitter nor the person who installed the oven or hob questioned it & I got the necessary certificates for the boiler.

Ah did you, good to know - thanks! So it sounds like it has been possible to have oven/combi next to each other, hopefully still is...

if you have a boiler in mind, ask the manufacturer. Their installation instructions will specify how much room it needs above/below/to sides, and you can ask specifically about having an oven underneath.

Generally, heat causes electrical insulation to degrade more quickly, but a boiler is likely to be built with heat-resistant materials.
