Grass drive

Has anyone tried grassing their drive with a plastic / metal / concrete grid and grass growing through it? Is it a sensible idea?

Not yet but I just bought a house with a parking space aligned to the garden and am considering grasscrete or similar so I will watch this with interest.

I think it looks fab. It won't work if your car is parked on the same spot for long periods, but if the car is out all day at work - if you get my drift - and only parked there evenings and weekends it should work well.

I was looking up similar things the other day. I am not too keen on the grasscrete stuff as it looks a bit municipal but there are other ways of doing permeable paths. Hi. I haven't made a grass drive myself but have been involved with projects where car parking was done using grass in a plastic grid something like this:

I just googled honeycomb grass drive and that was one of several products to come up. I think it works best where you pass over it and don't have things parked for a long time restricting light and water to the grass.

Not sure if it's healthy for the parked cars, as it will nearly always be damp beneath amd promote corrosion. Maybe others have experience ?
