Bathroom Tiles for B+W Bathroom

'Scuse the daft title but didn't know how best to summise this. I'm looking for your opinions on what options for tiles I now have.

3 years ago I had the bathroom done. It's a pretty big space so with a builder we moved things around so we have a bath, a walk in shower, toilet and double baisin. I couldn't find a tray large enough so the builder agreed to have tiles instead. Against m better judgment addled by pregnancy hormones I compromised over thing after thing and have been left with a bit of a mishmash of themes.

I was looking for a traditional looking bathroom with contemporary furniture i.e. B+W floor tiles and black bathroom furniture (baisin drawers) but white toilet and bath. Instead because the builder cut corners I ended up with mosaic tiles as well as the B+W floor ones. So in my bathroom there are small black mosaic tiles in the shower and up one wall of it, and surrounding the bath. Then are the larger square shaped B+W ones on the floor and up the other wall of the shower. (Hope you're still with me!)

Never been happy with it but put up with it because can't afford to change it for change's sake. But for past 2 years we've had problems with the small mosaic tiles needing grouting every 12 weeks or so and we have just stopped using the shower now because the tiles aren't water tight. This has forced us to consider ripping them up and replacing with other (larger I think) tiles but I am just so stumped as to what alternatives/options would work with what we already have.

Would really value any input you might have. I'd like to try and make it more uniform but don't want it to be too oppressive. I would like to rip out all the mosaic tiles (around the bath, on the shower floor and wall) as well as the B=W tiles on one of the shower walls. It might be worth mentioning that I don't keep the bathroom immaculate and white tiles would be my nightmare. Any colours that hide dirt well are my friends.

Any thoughts?

TFYH x

if the grout is comming out of the mosiac tiles its because the fitter didnt use mosiac tile grout just the normal tile grout! you can buy mosiac tile grout from most places that sell tiles. use can also buy coloured grout which is good cos it doesnt show the dirt/stains so much. this is probably going to be the cheapest option.
failing that you would need to rip out the tiles and to be honest you will probably end up replacing them all so think cafefully.
i dont think much of your tiler here sounds like he took a few short cuts!

white tiles will show the marks eaily shades of brown hide the dirt!!
use matt or satin tiles too as high gloss ones show the water marks, hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your reply. I had no idea about the mosaic tile grout. Husband was having a moan at me last night for considering replacing the tiles because of the cost so getting some different grout might save the day :)

I didn't think much of the tiler either!!!
